What We Love About Stafford, VA
Stafford is a beautiful, small town just 10 miles outside of Fredericksburg, and the county seat of Stafford County. We love that Stafford has some rich, nuggets of history that took place there like being the historical location for much of the true story of Pocohontas. Stafford also has current day significance as well—the Marine Corps Base Quantico is just north of the community.
When spending time in Stafford, we love to go to Government Island to take a walk on the trails and enjoy the quiet water and bird watching. It’s a great place to take children since the loop is only 1.7 miles long and dogs are welcome too if they stay on the leash.
We also love to visit the Log Cabin Restaurant in Stafford when we are looking for a place for fine dining. Although this is an amazing steak and seafood restaurant now, it has a long history of serving marines from Quantico and women from the Mary Washington College when they were prohibited to drink alcohol on or near campus.
